JMC is a multidisciplinary integrated clinical center of excellence with two distinct programmatic arms, each focused on delivering highly coordinated, patient-centered care across the spectrum of gastrointestinal health.

 

 

This arm is dedicated to individuals at risk for or living with gastrointestinal cancers and hereditary gastrointestinal cancer syndromes. The program provides comprehensive risk assessment, genetic counseling, and personalized surveillance plans. It integrates care across gastroenterology, oncology, genetics, nutrition, and psychosocial services, with a mission to detect cancer early or prevent it altogether. Special emphasis is placed on colorectal cancer prevention and familial cancer syndromes (such as Lynch syndrome, familial adenomatous polyposis and hereditary pancreas cancer).

 

 

The DIGEST program focuses on the comprehensive management of esophageal, foregut, and gastrointestinal motility disorders. This includes conditions such as GERD, Barrett’s esophagus, achalasia, esophageal and lower GI motility disorders, and complications related to obesity and reflux. DIGEST leverages a multidisciplinary team to provide individualized treatment strategies that prioritize evidence-based, patient-centered care, advanced diagnostics, and minimally invasive therapeutic approaches.

 

 

 

Together, these two arms of JMC represent a unified commitment to prevention, early detection, clinical excellence, and innovation in gastrointestinal health. The Center serves as both a regional referral hub and a national leader in integrated care, education, and research. Through its community outreach initiatives, health equity efforts, and survivorship support, JMC aims to improve outcomes and quality of life for patients and families affected by GI diseases.
