About David Wan, M.D.
Dr. David Wan is an Associate Professor of °ÅÀÖÊÓÆµ Medicine at the New York Presbyterian-°ÅÀÖÊÓÆµ in The Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology.
Dr. Wan earned his Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience at Brown University prior to getting his medical degree at NYU where he graduated Alpha Omega Alpha. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medical Center and his Gastroenterology fellowship at NYU.
Dr. Wan’s primary clinical and research interests are colorectal cancer screening, colonoscopy quality, lower gastrointestinal bleeding, and GI hospitalist medicine. As a GI hospitalist, Director of the GI Consultation Service, and Associate GI Fellowship Program Director, he supervises the fellows extensively during their 1st year and is highly involved in their mentorship, education, and endoscopic training. Furthermore, he is dedicated to improving overall housestaff and GI fellows’ didactics and is the course director and co-director for GI and Medicine Grand Rounds.
Dr. Wan completed coursework in quality improvement and is currently working on multidisciplinary pathways for patients with acute lower GI bleeding, a bicampus Cornell-Columbia initiative to improve colonoscopy quality metrics, and the development of a formal mentorship program for fellows and junior faculty.
On a national level, Dr. Wan was the Chair of the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) Practice Parameters Committee and currently serves on the ACG Educational Affairs Committee and ACG Universe Editorial Board.
